Hoof, Body & Soul, Part III: Mission Impossible, unedited, by Gudrun Buchhofer. Blog 6, case #6
Author: Gudrun Buchhofer
Dedicated to all the horses suffering because of an unfinished foundation — their hooves.
What did all my client horses over the last 20+ years have in common? They needed to heal from atrophy of the back of the foot as well as other atrophied hoof structures.
CHAPTER 1
Atrophy, the fundamental cause for most all hoof pathology and upper body injuries
Deformed hooves /crooked feet / wry feet / twisted hooves / slipper feet / folded hooves / flared hooves
Case # 6
mini stallion trimmed for over four years
Most likely his hooves had never been trimmed before when I met the mini stallion at the age of fourteen. He was rather left to deal with the unreleased newborn fetal hooves and endless time standing in his stall.
In the hinds he had dropped fetlocks. In the front he leaned on the lateral wall of the hoof capsule (more severe with the left). Both fronts were wry with the lateral wall crushed underneath and the toe wall in the air. The back of the front feet was completely shut down and atrophied.

He is picking up the dropped fetlocks in the hinds.
Notice the impact on the joints further up the leg. On a happier note: notice the internal structures above the hairline getting stronger and more balanced.
One of my last trims.
Healing journey of the left front hoof.
The hoof had literally shut down.
The hoof is responding to my trim. The bulbs are coming to life and the heels show where they can be shortened to.
The bruising in the sole is fading away.
A genuine mustang roll all the way around is the corner stone for healing.
I am grateful for the influence I had for almost four years on him and his companion horse (next case) as well as on their living situation.♥

Stay tuned for the upcoming cases (under my care for up to 20 years) in this blog series as a replacement for the unpublished part III: Mission Impossible of my trilogy Hoof, Body & Soul.

Q: Why do we need to change the upbringing of our baby horses and donkeys? A: To prevent senseless suffering.
